Description

What better way to explore a city than its food! Explore India and its culture and tradition in this amazing food and heritage walk of the glorious city of Old Delhi! Your tour will start with your guide picking you up from your hotel and taking you on a metro ride.

After reaching Old Delhi, your first stop will be at Gurudwara Sis Ganj, (Sikh Gurudwara with an important historic reference) where you can learn about the community kitchen service!

Begin your food walk with, some sweet jalebis (a deep-fried sweet dish made with cornflour and sugar syrup) and samosa (fried triangular bread stuffed with potatoes) from a 100-year-old shop. Walk ahead with your guide to try Raj Kachori (kind of chat filled with fresh yogurt, sweet and sour sauces in a crispy edible bowl!)

Once you’re done here, get ready to stuff some gorgeous paranthas (Indian flatbread filled with a variety of stuffing’s like cheese, cashews, chili, and lemon to name a few!), Kulia ki chaat (different fruit bowls filled with chickpeas and masala) and a very unique fruit sandwich.
After this, walk towards the spice market to see the whole world of spices and then fill your belly some more with dishes like rabri-faluda (rice noodles), chole bhatura (chickpeas curry and fried bread), and a chilled glass of Lassi! (Sweetened yogurt)

Finish your gastronomic journey with some chilled and mouth-watering kulfi (Indian ice cream with more than 50 flavors) before your guide takes you back and drops you at the metro station.

Half day private Old Delhi tour with guide Riyaz & driver Shehzad. The tor started at 1pm to 5 pm.

Half day private tour old Delhi with driver, Shehzad & guide, Riyaz. We were picked up at our hotel at 1pm to 5 pm. We were taken to old Delhi by car & then we were transferred to tuk tuk cycle which made the trip interesting & fascinating to go through narrow alleyway, roads with million pedestrians, vehicles crisscrossing in different directions & stray cows & dogs roaming around. Spice market was particularly interesting. We couldn’t have done it without Riyaz guiding us through beggars, hawkers, scammers, etc. Believe me, it’s well worth having a driver & a guide to make your travel hassle free & without headaches & other worries.

Excellent Food Tour

October 16, 2023

Got off on the wrong foot as first visit of the afternoon was to a Mosque which had dress code rules (which we weren't prepared for) which then incurred additional costs, but after that we thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the afternoon. The food was completely vegetarian, which as a meat eater may have put me off in many other places, but it certainly didn't disappoint on this tour and was extremely tasty. The tour was in an exceedingly busy part of Old Delhi which was jam packed with people and various modes of transport but was well worth the experience. Isha was a great tour guide and provided lots of historical information along the way to add to the experience. Our party of 3 were slightly concerned about taking this tour as we don't exactly have the strongest of food stomach's, but we can gladly report that there was no Delhi Belly's the next day.
