Description
Day 1:
Our first destination is the busy BBD Flower Market, where we are
greeted by vivid colors and fragrant blooms at precisely 8:30 AM. Take
an hour to peruse the stalls and take in the vibrant ambiance. We then
proceed to the famous Victoria Memorial, a work of architecture that
perfectly captures the opulence of the British Raj. Take around two
hours to see the magnificent gardens and museum. After that, we head to
the peaceful St. John's Church, a haven of peace in the middle of the
busy city, where you may spend an hour reflecting and appreciating its
historical significance.
We make our way to Park Street, the center of dining and entertainment
in Kolkata, around midday. Savor the local specialties while having a
relaxing lunch at one of the many restaurants. We spend an hour driving
through Dalhousie, taking in the lively streets and architecture from
the colonial era, after refueling. The famous Howrah Bridge, an
engineering masterpiece that spans the Hooghly River, is our next
destination. Take breathtaking pictures and ponder on its beauty for
around forty-five minutes.
We travel to the tranquil Birla Temple as the afternoon wears on,
providing a break from the bustle of the city for a period of
introspection. After an hour of enjoying its beautiful architecture and
serene atmosphere, we complete our tour for the day around 4:30 PM.
Day 2:
We start at 8:30 AM and head to the revered Kalighat Kali Temple, where
worshippers come to honor the formidable goddess Kali. Take an hour to
fully experience this hallowed site's mystical atmosphere. We then
travel to the Dakshineshwar Kali Temple, a revered site and a masterwork
of Bengali architecture. Give yourself around two hours to savor its
subtleties and take in the atmosphere of adoration.
Late in the morning, we reach College Street, known for its intellectual
atmosphere and busy bookshops. Spend as much time as you like perusing
the literary gems and participating in thought-provoking conversations.
This should take about two hours. We then went to the Mother Teresa House,
a modest home where the Nobel winner lived and worked to help the
underprivileged. Take an hour to consider her humanitarian
accomplishments and lasting legacy.
Our last destination of the afternoon is the South Park Street Cemetery,
a peaceful haven rich in colonial past. After an hour or so of perusing
the tombstones and absorbing the calm ambiance, our tour concludes at
4:30 PM, and you will have a greater appreciation for Kolkata's rich
spiritual and cultural tradition.
